selfless

Take a step outside the self
To find another self to step out from.
A second passes and a new self rises.
Through this infinities of selves,
A thin line is traced, a singular life.
It intersects incidental probabilities,
Fragile threads of crystallized possibilities,
Loosely weaving a spiderless web,
A trap without a prey to cling on to,
A means to an end without the end,
Built for a purpose without cause.
And so it hangs and sways and oscillates,
Between the impossibility of its own existence.

Memories

The memories I pick them out
Put them into order and rearrange them
Fragile collections of fossils
Arranged in fanciful boxes
Dressed up and painted
Staged and reenacted,
Exquisite dancing corpses.

It's all a state
A standstill
A moment of contemplation
Of obsession and aggregation
A mental block
A salty deposit in a neuron
Excess amounts of cholesterol
Lamentful currents pushing against it
Until its dissolution
And its resurrection
